Created in January 2015, Université de Montpellier (UM) is the result of the merge of Montpellier Universities 1 and 2, benefiting from the excellence and complementarity of both institutions. The institution now revives the universal ambition of the first university created in Montpellier in 1289 as a secular and international establishment. Over a period of eight centuries, intellectuals and scientists, from Rabelais and Curie, to Renaudot, Chaptal and Grothendieck, have shaped a university closely tied with the city’s life and involved in the great challenges of its times. Université de Montpellier brings together a vast community of knowledge, from science, techniques and medicine to environmental and educational science, as well as economics, law and political sciences.
Université de Montpellier encompasses 17 schools organized into two main complementary domains: science, techniques and health; and law and economics. It offers students an opportunity to train in multiple areas in order to meet the needs of tomorrow’s demanding careers, combining robotics /engineering and health, economics and the environment, law and information technologies, and more. Acknowledged in worldwide university rankings (Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities, QS ranking), Université de Montpellier is internationally recognized for its expertise in many scientific fields such as health-biology, agro-environmental science, chemistry, information and communication technologies and science, and more. It coordinates 5 Laboratories of Excellence and 7 Equipment of Excellence projects.
Now ranked as the 6th top national university in France by size, UM encompasses some 41,000 students (16% of whom are foreign), 1,700 PhD students (50% of whom are from abroad), and a community of 4,300 researchers.
The Baikal National University of Economics and Law (BNUEL) founded in 1930 is one of the major and leading institutions in providing the higher education and post-graduate training, including PhD and MBA programs, in Russia. The university’s main research and teaching areas are Economics, Management, Law, Applied Computer Science, Journalism, Psychology and Sociology. Nowadays BNUEL includes 10 faculties, 20 fields of specialist's (bachelor's) degree training, 8 fields of master's degree training, 15 fields of doctorate degree training, 40 accredited educational programs of advanced training, 1,000 teaching staff, about 30,000 registered students among which about 1000 are foreigners. Our university has a wide experience in developing joint international programs which are offered at the university. The International department of BNUEL maintains established connections with The University of Coimbra (Portugal), The University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (France), and The University of Applied Science of Osnabrück (Germany) where students of BNUEL can undertake internship programs. Meanwhile the teaching stuff of Faculty of International Economics on the regular basis take training courses in the European Universities – partners of BNUEL within the European Community program Tempus Tacis.
The University is also involved in a few international exchange programs with a couple of Chinese universities. The leading partners of BNUEL are The Henan University of Finance and Economics (a double degree program is currently being realized on the basis of the Russian-Chinese faculty), The Dalian University of Foreign Languages, The Shenyang Ligong University, The Beijing Foreign Studies University, The East China Normal University and others. About 500 of the Chinese students from the above-mentioned universities are getting the higher education in our university today.
Owing to the fact that Mongolia is adjacent to Irkutsk Oblast, The Baikal National University of Economics and Law is considered a leader in training the Mongolian specialists in the area of Economics and Law. About 80 Mongolian students and 9 post-graduate students are currently studying in BNUEL.
Being in the top ten of Russian universities of economics and ranked 11th among Russian universities by quality of education, the Baikal National University of Economics and Law appears to be a right place for implementing the program. The fact that BNUEL already maintains contacts with a few European universities and has double degree programs in Economics and Law (the Russian-French and Russian-German faculties) will apparently assist in achieving the main program's aim – promotion of European higher education to the non-European countries. In other words, the expertise and well-established practice of cooperation of the university is equal to the Erasmus Mundus promotion projects requirements.

Furthermore the project will be supported by AMU IRO, finance services, public tenders office, it will get all needed support from AMU Rector and AMU Vice-Rector (direct boss of local coordinator at AMU) as it is considered as an important milestone in AMU institutional development strategy (leading among others to creation of AMU Centre for Russian Studies and Cooperation).
Founded in 1854 as the Ecole Impériale Professionnelle du Nord, Ecole Centrale de Lille is today one of France’s leading graduate Grandes Ecoles (GE) in engineering. It provides its students with an advanced multi-disciplinary curriculum and produces engineers and research scientists with expertise in varied fields and strong competencies in foreign languages, management and communication sciences. Actively involved in inter-university cooperation networks since the launch by the European commission of ERASMUS in 1987, EC Lille has promoted cooperation, mobility and the mutual recognition of study programs between different countries and educational systems in Europe ever since. In 1989, EC Lille and its French and European partner universities made the decision to give their students further learning opportunities by developing an innovative, long study stay Double Degree (Master level) program, involving extended periods of mobility for the most talented of their students with the objective of preparing them to function across national borders both within the European Union and throughout the world.
EC Lille has since been a highly active member of the TIME (Top Industrial Managers for Europe) network which today comprises 51 technical universities and engineering schools in various countries in Europe and on other continents. Simultaneously, EC Lille has developed similar Double Degree (master level) programs with North American partner universities both in Canada and the US. From 1996 to 2001, it co-directed one of the first EC-US consortia which enabled its 11 Higher Education Institution members( 3 in the USA, 8 in 7 EU countries) to promote the intercultural dimension in scientific and technical education and to train undergraduate and graduate master students to work in an international context.
More recently, the need to educate to day’s engineers and scientists to meet tomorrow’s challenges has become even more critical and structural changes with increased inter disciplinarity and mobility training at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels have been developed. Double Degree PhD dissertation programmes have successfully been implemented for doctoral candidates at and from partner universities in Australia, Japan and the United States so as to enable students and early stage researchers to meet the needs of a wider employment market.
EC Lille is also strongly involved locally with The University of Lille Nord de France which brings together all research and higher educational organisations in Northern France. Five of its six research laboratories work in partnership with the University of Lille1 Science and Technology, both HEI’ s being located on Scientific City Campus.
EC Lille is part of both the European Doctoral School (CED) and the regional doctoral school in engineering sciences. Its main research areas are: Science and Technologies of Information and Communication, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Material Science, Process Engineering and Industrial Engineering. With 1,000 registered students and 90 associate professors and full professors, EC Lille awards 250 Diplôme d’ingénieur/Master per year( 20 to 25 % to Double Degree students) and 25 doctorates.
EC Lille has had a long tradition of international cooperation and successfully implemented student and staff exchanges, visiting professorships, double degree mobility schemes at master level and, more recently, joint PHD dissertation research with European and overseas partners in Australia, Asia and North America. The growing focus on research activities inside its engineering master curriculum has contributed to a growing PhD awareness among EC Lille graduates and a continuation towards PhD level integrating structured multi- cultural experience is becoming a reference for more global careers in industry and/or academia. The EC Lille academic-research and administrative staff will actively participate to EM mobility project by identifying relevant research training offers and providing incoming participants with full services- including state of the art research equipment and facilities, dedicated campus accommodation- to all participants in the mobility scheme.
