On 14th of July 2014 Prof. Sergey Ivanchenko, President of Pacific National University at Khabarovsk, signed the Joint Degree Agreement between PNU and University of Montpellier II (France)

On July 14, 2014 the delegation of the University of Montpellier 2 (France) visited Pacific National University. Deputy Director of the School of Management, University of Montpellier 2, Emmanuel Houze, head of administration of the School of Management Gregory Bouviala and professor of the School of Management Regis Meissonier got acquainted with the educational and research activities of the university.

The delegation visited the PNU museum, where they were toldlearned about the history of the university. Then they were shown around the University Scientific Library and the Electronic Reading Room of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. Then the members of the delegation got acquainted with the work of the Faculty of Economics and Management of PNU.

During the meeting with the PNU president Professor Sergey Ivanchenko the Joint Degree Agreement was signed to create the Joint Master’s Degree programme between the Pacific National University with the University of Montpellier 2 in the direction of 38.04.02 “Management” (Master’s program “International Business”).

Under this programme the students will study at the partner university during the first year, and at home university – during the second year. Two supervisors from both universities will be appointed for writing master thesis. Thesis defense will be held via videoconference. The students may choose where to take an internship, either at Montpellier or Khabarovsk enterprises. The students will cover tuition fee, travel expenses, housing and other living expenses. The program will be launched in 2015/2016 academic year.

On behalf of PNU there also were First Vice-president for Strategic Development and International Cooperation Aleksandr Zubarev, the head of Research and Engineering Programs Department Iuliia Leonova and deputy deans of the Faculty of Economics and Management. They paid attention to such questions as assessment of knowledge acquisition, entry requirements and application, academic calendar and so on.

During the meeting Director of Master’s Degrees of the University of Montpellier 2 Emmanuel Houze spoke on different aspects of academic process in the university, variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of management, selection of courses entirely taught in English, research facilities and internship opportunities.

Such issues as the structure of the master program “International management”, the implementation of the projects, the work schedule, and joint research in the frames of international grant programs, establishing a comparative system of credits and results/apprecia tions obtained in the host university were also discussed with the representatives of School of Management. It was proposed that some lectures will be read by the professors of the School of Management of the University of Montpellier 2 at PNU.

Regarding other results of the negotiations it was decided to promote partnership between the universities and encourage the exchange programs of teaching and research staff in the framework of academic courses, of research and teaching activities.
